Human League - The Path of Least Resistance HQ-Off the beaten track 96

Human
League – Path of Least resistance(1979)

When
I say Human League don't think of the two women dancing around Phil
Oakey. Its hard to not visualize that as the success the band had was
in part due to production of their sound and their image. But go back
to 1977 there was a band called 'The Future'. The Future was made up
Of Martyn Ware and Ian Marsh, Phil Oakey and I believe Adi newton who
went onto form Clock DVA. Their early works were a mismatch of sounds
some industrial others sort of like a Donna Summer meets Kraftwerk
kind of thing. The band moved on and got more serious and recorded
Peel sessions. As they got known locally this spread to radio and
within two years they were being named dropped by David Bowie and of
course of the Undertones single 'My Perfect cousin'. I do run a
group for Human League on FB and Its strange because I do not like
anything they have recorded after the 1981 period. Yet the band holds
this fan base that is almost obsessional For me the Human League were
right there behind Cabaret Voltaire in Sheffield music in the late
70s. They were on the brink of success and breakthrough only to split
into two bands (BEF/heaven 17). They left behind two albums of
almost sparse electronica before splitting. This track is typical of
the time, scifi clips shown to match the electronic music they were
creating. I suppose I am into the synths they used, although now
antique(ish) they sound so futuristic, which ha meant their records
have not date in a true sense.
